Moulton girls basketball: Kittens defeat Industrial, win three at VSJ tournament
The Moulton Kittens defeated Industrial and went 3-1 at the Victoria St. Joseph Tournament last week.
Moulton 55, Industrial 40
Audrey Swinford booked a dozen points as the Kittens beat Industrial 55-40 Dec. 2 at home.
Moulton led 17-14 after the first quarter and went on a 13-6 second-quarter run for a 30-20 lead at halftime.
The Kittens slightly outscored the Lady Cobras 9-6 in the third quarter and 16-14 in the fourth frame.

The Kittens won three of four games at the VSJ Tournament and Swinford was named to the All-Tournament team.
Moulton 48, Sinton 46
The Kittens, down 33-32 entering the fourth quarter, went on a 16-13 run to edge Sinton 48-46 on Friday. Moulton outscored Sinton 13-8 in both the first and second quarters before the Lady Pirates went on a 17-6 third-quarter run to take a narrow lead. Swinford dropped in 20 points and Ava Olivarez finished with 10 points.
Holly Nunn was Sinton’s point leader with 13.

Swinford made three triples and scored 16 points with Olivarez netting 14 and Addison Simper adding 12 as the Kittens beat Palacios 50-36 on Friday in the second game.
Moulton led 18-9 after the first period and the teams split 20 points in the second quarter. The Kittens outscored Palacios 13-6 in the third frame and the Sharkettes scored 11 of 20 in the fourth frame. Dazia Alcantara led all scorers and Palacios with 21 points.

West Oso outscored Moulton 26-18 (14-12, 12-6) in the second half to edge out the Kittens 42-37 on Saturday.
West Oso led 9-7 after the first quarter and Moulton went on a 12-7 run in the second quarter for a 19-16 halftime lead. Araceli Vasquez tallied 15 points and three treys to lead Moulton while Khianna Johnson bagged two treys and 12 points for West Oso.

The Kittens limited El Campo to just eight second-half points to close out the tournament with a 44-21 win on Saturday. Moulton led 8-3 after the first period and 21-13 at halftime. The Kittens went on a 12-6 run in the third quarter and outscored El Campo 11-2 in the fourth period. Swinford banked in 12 points for Moulton while Riannah Miles scored 12 for El Campo.
