Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches get two wins at Fayetteville tournament

The Shiner Lady Comanches went 2-2 in the Fayetteville Tournament.
Brazos Christian 50, Shiner 39
Addy Siegel scored 12 points in Shiner’s tournament opener, a 50-39 loss to Brazos Christian on Thursday.
The Lady Eagles led 14-7 after one quarter and 23-10 at halftime.
Brazos outscored Shiner 21-8 in the third quarter and Shiner closed the gap with a 21-6 run in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Comanches came within one quarter of knocking off the host Lady Lions but Fayetteville rallied with an 8-4 run in the final quarter to edge Shiner 43-42 on Thursday.
Shiner led 12-10 after the first frame and outscored Fayetteville 14-11 in the second period for a 26-21 halftime advantage.  
Fayetteville’s 14-12 run in the third quarter got them within 38-35.
Siegel hit a tres and sank 17 points for Shiner; Scotti Beseda tallied 18 points for Fayetteville.

Siegel netted 17 points and Jaliyah Barnett had 12 points as Shiner beat Somerville 45-33 on Friday.
Shiner led 12-8 after one quarter and Somerville got within 21-18 at halftime. Shiner scored eight of 13 points in the third quarter and went on a 16-10 run in the final eight minutes.

Siegel had her best game of the tournament with 21 points as Shiner closed out with a 46-42 win over Cornerstone Christian Academy of Bryan on Friday.  The Lady Comanches led 16-5 in the first quarter and led 26-17 at halftime.  Shiner scored 13 of 25 points in the third period and endured a 13-7 CCA run in the fourth quarter.
