Virginia R. Patek
Virginia Rose Patek, 92, of Yoakum, joined her heavenly family Thursday, December 18, 2025.
She was born September 20, 1933, the third child of six children born to the late Frank and Rosie (Pohler) Pavlas and she was the last survivor of the family.
She graduated from St. Ludmila High School, Shiner, in 1951 and went onto Baldwin Business College in Yoakum.
She married her beloved Johnnie Patek and for the next 63 years they were devoted to raising their eight children to share their Catholic faith, small town values, and the best academic opportunities they could provide.
They owned and operated Anders Auto Supplies for over 60 years until Johnnie’s passing in January of 2018.
Virginia had always been the bookkeeper for Anders Auto Supplies and continued her work until recently.
She was a strong woman devoted to her faith and served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of Catholic Daughters and troop leader for Junior Catholic Daughters.
Her enduring faith in Jesus guided her actions. She grew deeper in her faith through her devotion to her family. Her favorite prayer was “Jesus I trust in You”. Virginia will continue to guide us through her example of selfless love.
Survivors are her children, Mark “Fred” Patek (Sharon), Johnny Patek (Lois), Cathy Stubbs (Ronnie), Greg Patek (Cindy), Ginny Marek (Gary), Mary Mayes (Rex) and Theresa VanSickle (Roger); 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Patek; son, Myron Lee Patek; her parents, Frank and Rosie Pavlas; sisters, Georgia Juranek and Mary Ann Chunda; and brothers, Frank F. Pavlas, David Pavlas and Eugene Pavlas.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. with rosary recited at 6 p.m. Monday, December 22 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating.
She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum next to her beloved Johnnie.
