Shiner girls basketball: Shiner girls split with Louise, Weimar

The Lady Comanches went 1-1 in two district games last week against Louise and Weimar.
Shiner 58, Louise 9
Kenzie Springfield scored 18 points, Addy Siegel bagged 12 points with Kallee Kiffer booking 10 points and getting 13 rebounds in Shiner’s 58-9 win over Louise Jan. 6 at home.
Shiner led 14-2 after one quarter and outscored the Lady Hornets 13-0 in the second period.
The Lady Comanches scored 16 of 20 points in the third box and went on a 15-3 run in the fourth quarter.
Natalie Rhoades led the Hornets with four points.

Lexi Boner netted eight points with both Jaliyah Barnett and Addy Siegel recording seven points each as Shiner fell at Wemar 54-33 on Friday.
The Lady Wildcats led 18-6 at the end of the first frame and outscored Shiner 16-10 in the second quarter.
The teams split a dozen points in the third quarter and Weimar had a 14-11 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes.

The Shiner girls JV team won their home tournament on Saturday and beat Weimar on Friday

Shiner 25, Flatonia 18
Taylor Kocian and Tinsley Vasek each scored nine points to lead Shiner to a 25-18 win over the hosts.
Shiner led 5-2 after one frame and Flatonia outscored them 8-4 in the second quarter for a 10-9 lead.
Shiner grabbed the lead back with a 12-6 run in the third quarter and then scored four of six points in the fourth period.
For Shiner, Megan Burns had two assists, one rebound; Jewel Caka had one steal; Madi Hubbard had five rebounds, two assists, two steals; Kocian added five rebounds, four steals, one assist; Timbarlynn Jones recorded six rebounds, three steals, one assist; Vasek had three rebounds, two steals, one assist; Dannica Beinhauer chipped in two rebounds, two assists.

Jones scored 10 points to lead Shiner to a 23-2 rout of Rice Consolidated. The Lady Comanches scored 12 points in the first half and 11 in the second half.

Kocian scored nine points and Jones registered eight points as Shiner held off a second-half rally by Weimar to win 28-26 on Friday. 
Shiner led 17-13 at halftime and Weimar outscored them 13-11 in the second half. Burns had one assist;  Caka had one rebound, one steal; Hubbard had four rebounds, one steal; Kocian added five steals, two assists, one rebound; Jones had three rebounds, one assist, one steal; Vasek had one rebound, one assist.
