Edwin L. Janak
Edwin Louis Janak, 86, of Willis, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026.
He was born on August 24, 1939, in Hallettsville, to Nick and Millie (Dolezal) Janak. Edwin graduated from Shiner High School. He was married to Rosalie (Knezek) Janak on November 27, 1965, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yoakum.
Edwin served in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class from 1960 to 1965. He was always proud of his service to his country. Edwin worked for Dupont Chemical Plant in LaPorte, Texas for 33 years. He was a loving husband, father, and pawpaw for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and maintaining his family property on Lake Conroe. He enjoyed cheering on the Astros, Rockets, and Cowboys.
He was a devout Catholic, and his faith guided the way he lived: loving others, showing kindness and always putting people first. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and cared for.
He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe. He will be deeply missed, but his faith, love and legacy will live on forever.
He is survived by his children: son, Mark Janak and wife Carrie of Friendswood; daughter, Susan Stock and husband Robert of Friendswood; son, David Janak and wife Gina of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren, Amber Lucas and husband Alex, Brandon Janak, Brent Janak and wife Elisabeth, Jaci Hall and husband Mason, and Caden Janak; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Briley and Brantley Hall; Georgie and Jude Janak; and sister, Evelyn Shupak.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Rosalie Janak; his parents; brothers, Leo Janak, Edward Janak and George Janak; and sisters, Frances Shupak and Dorothy Picha.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 7 at Shiner Funeral Home.
Prayers of the Holy Rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Jacob Mendoza officiating.
Interment will follow in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Caden Janak, Brandon Janak, Alex Lucas, Mason Hall, Brent Janak and Kenny Picha.
