Moulton girls basketball: Kittens fall to Lady Wildcats in regional semifinals
The Moulton Kittens’ season came to an end in the regional semifinals against Brookeland.
Moulton finishes with a 32-3 overall record.
The Kittens graduate Karsyn Blahuta, Valeria Pinedo, Addison Simper, Araceli Vasquez, Raelyn Brooks, Reese Nieto and Audrey Swinford.
Brookeland 58, Moulton 43 (regional semifinals)
Simper netted 12 points and Swinford tacked on 10 points as the Kittens came up short to Brookeland 58-43 Monday at Willis High School.
The Lady Wildcats led 14-12 after one quarter and went on a 12-7 second-quarter run for a 26-13 halftime lead.
Brookeland outscored the Kittens 12-11 in the third period before scoring 20 of 33 points to finish off the game in the fourth stanza.
Kaelyn Strother led Brookeland with 14 points and two triples while C. Morgan bucketed 14 points as well.

Vasquez hit four treys and 16 points in the Kittens’ 44-28 area-round win over McMullen County Friday in Kenedy.
Swinford also scored in double digits with 11 points.
The Kittens outscored the Cowgirls 16-4 in the first frame and built 21-10 halftime lead at halftime.
Moulton scored 12 of 20 points in the third frame and edged McMullen County 11-10 in the fourth frame.
Camie Taylor scored 20 points to lead the Cowgirls.

Ava Olivarez scored 15 points, Vasquez sank 12 points and A Swinford bagged 10 points in Moulton’s 81-30 win over North Zulch Feb. 16 in Brenham.
Moulton led 19-4 after the first frame and went on a 26-8 run in the second period
The Kittens scored 22 of 32 points in the third stanza and outscored North Zulch 14-8 in the final eight minutes.
Madi Morris led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points.
