Moulton softball: Kittens post 3-1 record at Schulenburg Tourney

The Kittens won three of four at the Schulenburg Tournament last week.
Moulton 8, Luling 6
With a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the third inning, the Moulton Kittens scored five runs and then held Luling to three runs in the top of the fourth in an 8-6 win on Thursday.
Luling  scored two runs to start the game and Moulton plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The teams each brought one run home in the second frame.
The Lady Eagles scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning.
For the Kittens at the plate, Madison Rothbauer was 2-for-2, two runs, triple and two RBI while Addison Simper hit 2-for-2, two runs,  one triple and one RBI.
Bethany Kram pitched 3 2/3 innings with 12 hits, six runs, two wild pitches, one walk and four strikeouts.
In the field, Katie Richter made five putouts.

Somerville outscored the Kittens 5-1 in the third inning to beat Moulton 8-3.
Each team scored two runs in the first inning.  The Lady Yeguas added one run in the fourth inning.
At the plate, Karsyn Blahuta was 2-for-2, double, run and RBI; Taylor Self got two hits, double and RBI.
Kram pitched four innings with 13 hits, eight runs and three strikeouts.
Richter made three putouts on defense.

Moulton 9, Rice Consolidated 5
Kram was 2-for-2, double, two runs and one RBI; Richter hit 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI and Simper finished 2-for-2, two runs, one RBI in the Kittens’ 9-5 win over Rice Consolidated on Saturday.
Moulton led 6-2 after one inning and 8-5 after two complete innings. The Kittens scored one run in the third inning.
Kram yielded five runs on six hits with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings pitched. Abigail Siegel had two putouts in the field.

Araceli Vasquez went 2-for-2, home run, two total runs and two RBI while Richter got two hits and scored one run as the Kittens edged New Braunfels Thunder 5-4 on Saturday.
Thunder led 1-0 after one inning; Moulton scored three runs in the second and two in the third; Thunder scored three runs in the fourth frame.
Kram worked four innings with four runs on 10 hits and one strikeout.
Rothbauer made three putouts in the field.
