St. Paul baseball: Brazosport gets 4-3, 13-0 sweep of SP nine in area round

St. Paul was swept 4-3 and 13-0 by Brazosport in the area round April 28 in Danbury to end the season.
The Cardinals graduate CJ Fogle, Brodey Biehunko and Zeke Basquez.

The opener went back and forth until Brazosports scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 4-3 lead and did not allow a tying run in the top of the seventh.
After a scoreless first inning, the Cardinals led 2-1 after two innings and Brazosports scored one in the third and then took a 3-2 lead in the fifth. St. Paul tied the game with one run in the top of the sixth.
Jace Matias led the Cards at the plate, hitting 2-for-3 with an RBI; Fogle doubled with one RBI and Andy Nunez went 1-for-1 with a double.
Fogle pitched five innings, three hits, three runs, six walks and nine strikeouts. 
Ian Kennedy went one inning,  one run, two walks and one strikeout. 
Evan Rother and Biehunko each had two putouts and one assist on defense.

Brazosport scored nine runs in the top of the first and blanked the Cardinals 13-0 in the second game.
Brazosport brought in four runs in the fourth inning,
Matias, Jack Leonard, Fogle, Basquez and Kennedy all had one hit each.
Evan Rother pitched 1/3 innings, four runs on five hits; Jack Leonard worked 2/3 innings, two hits, two runs, one walk and one strikeout. 
Levi Leonard tossed for three squares, four runs on five hits; Kennedy pitched one inning, one walk and three strikeouts.
Biehunko made four putouts on defense.
