Springtime is almost here and it’s time to change your clocks.Clocks will “spring forward” one hour on Sunday, March 9. While many welcome the extra hour of evening sunlight, the practice has a long and sometimes controversial history.

Time to return to standard time

It’s that time of the year when clocks are moved back one hour to standard time and the afternoon daylight hours will darken a lot sooner.Early Sunday morning, the official change to standard time will take place at 2 a.m.

It’s the time of the year when Americans gain an hour to extend afternoon daylight as clocks are moved forward one hour.The practice of moving the clocks forward started in 1918when Congress enacted a provision meant to follow the European model designed to save energy during World War I.

Time to Spring forward

Whether you like the idea or not, it’s that time of the year for us to adjust our clocks to Daylight Saving Time (DST) and we gain additional sunlight for the next eight months.  The official time for daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m.
