National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Week, held annually in February, recognizes the role the National FFA Organization plays in agricultural education, leadership development, and career preparation for students nationwide.

YHS FFA Agriculture Issues Team advances to Area competition

The Future Farmers of America (FFA) Agriculture (Ag) Issues Forum team at Yoakum High School advanced from district to area. This team has been practicing hard and presenting their thesis to various organizations in the community.

FFA Ag Issues team presents program at board meeting

The Hallettsville High School FFA Ag Issues team presented a program at the regular meeting of the HISD Board of Trustees on Monday, November 11.

MISD FFA students attend National Convention

Three Moulton ISD Future Farmers of America students attended the national FFA convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.“This is the first time we took students to the national convention in a very long time,” Ag teacher Emaleigh Esterak said.
Forty-one Yoakum ISD FFA members traveled to Blinn College in Schulenburg Nov. 1 to compete in the Horizon District Leadership Development Events. The students competed in 14 events.

YISD FFA Agriculture Issues Team advances to Area

The Future Farmers of America Agriculture Issues Forum team at Yoakum ISD advanced from district to area. This team has been practicing hard and presenting their thesis to various organizations in the community.
The Texas FFA Chorus performed on Wednesday evening, July 10 singing the National Anthem prior to the Houston Astros/Miami Marlins baseball game. The chorus is made up of 30 talented FFA members from throughout the state and were under the direction of Jeanna Baibos. One of the members of the choir is Austin Hunter, a member of the Jersey Village FFA in Houston. He is the son of Heath Hunter and Tammy Hunter and grandson of Nancy Hunter and the late Hallettsville mayor Stephen Hunter.

The 96th Texas FFA Convention was held last week in Houston with the Texas FFA Chorus, a group of FFA members, performing each day at the event.

2024 Yoakum FFA / 4-H stock show this weekend

The 2024 Yoakum Project Show will take place Jan. 12-13 at the Yoakum Rodeo Area/Show Barn. Starting the show at 4 p.m. on Friday will be the Agriculture Mechanics Show. There will be many exhibitors showing their hand-fabricated metal and wood projects.

Local young cattle raisers place in SA Stock Show

  Hallettsville FFA and Lavaca County 4-H members recently competed at the 2023 San Antonio Livestock Show Junior Commercial Steer Contest with four of the members placing in the Top 10.
