Lucie: A dog’s life, remembered

In September 2004 a young, sickly and very pregnant dog invited herself to a patio party, forever changing the course of the lives of all those who were gathered there that day. Of course, none of them could have guessed that her arrival that day might one day save hundreds of other canine lives.

Boat stolen from Fordtran area

The Criminal Investigations Division with the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s in solving the theft of a 2015 Shoalwater boat and trailer from the Fordtran area between Hallettsville and Victoria.
Hallettsville’s Statue of Liberty was one of just two Lady Liberty miniatures found in the Lone Star State as of 2018, though a couple more have gone up in East Texas since. Still, she has almost as many visitors here in Hallettsville as those who swing by to see our historic courthouse over the course of a year, believe it or not.
