The Shiner cross-country team participated in the regional meet Monday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.Megan Burns placed No. 96 overall with a time of 16 minutes, 20.81 seconds in the 2A girls two miles.The Shiner boys placed No. 24Felix Nieto got No. 136 with a time of 23:29.30.Hudson Koncaba was No.

Shiner football: Comanches shut down Beavers 21-3

Shiner and Falls City each had at least three trips inside the opponent’s 30 yard-line.It was the Comanches who did better capitalizing as they beat the Beavers 21-3 on Friday in their first varsity action since a 56-7 win over Luling Sept. 27.

The Comanches see their first on-field district action following last week’s cancellation of their opener against Charlotte. The Comanches will host Falls City. The Cardinals will travel to Hallettsville for a district rivalry game against Sacred Heart.

The Shiner Junior Varsity Purple team has a record of 11-1 (as of Oct. 10). The Lady Comanches won first in the Flatonia Tournament with wins over Hallettsville, Rice Consolidated, Schulenburg and Sacred Heart.
