Mackenzie Peebles

Introducing your 2023 Miss Lavaca County USAgriculture…

“I love riding my horses, being outside and being a Chapter officer for my school’s FFA program,” Peebles says.” I maintain all A’s throughout the school year, and play on the varsity softball team for my school. I live on a ranch outside of Shiner, where I tend to all our livestock.
Robert Werner makes his way through the crowd, just before dinner is served Saturday, to rub elbows with some of the day's largest donors toward the Old Shiner Gym projects. Seated in the foreground is Mark Hagens, owner of H&C Construction. The tall fellow standing there is Douglas Kaspar, son of Dan Kaspar and now the namesake to his charitable foundation.

Gathered for the Old Shiner Gym

If there’s one thing to be said about Robert Werner, the ol’ boy sure can put on a party. And party they did Saturday evening, as about 300 people gathered at the Shiner KC Hall for a dinner and Casino Night fundraiser, all in support of the old Shiner Gym.

Shiner volleyball: Shiner has mostly-smooth sweep of Ganado

The Lady Comanches volleyball team looked to play a really crisp, error-free match. Their efforts paid off in a 25-12, 25-5, 25-15 win over Ganado at home Friday evening to put Shiner at 6-1 before they hosted Weimar this past Tuesday in senior night.
