St. Paul volleyball: Lady Cards discover some rotations in 3-1 win over FHS

In their home opener against Flatonia, the St. Paul volleyball team invested in a good rotation that paid dividends.The Lady Cardinals defeated Flatonia 25-17. 22-25, 25-18, 25-12 Aug. 19.“I was really pleased with it,” St. Paul head coach Max Bergkamp said.

Shiner cross country: Shiner boys place seventh at Stockdale

The Shiner cross-country team ran in the Stockdale Brahma Invitational on Saturday.Varsity GirlsAlena Winkenwerder was No. 36 with a time of 16 minutes, 16.46 seconds and a pace of 8:08. Kayla Heinold was No. 56 in 18:58.28 (9:29).Varsity BoysThe Comanches scored 182 points to place seventh.

Shiner football: Comanches have good middle part of Ganado scrimmage

In their final scrimmage of the season against Ganado, Shiner did not start or finish that great but was good in between.“We have to start faster,” Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said. “We also did not finish real well at the end and got tired.

Shiner volleyball: Lady Comanches earn third at Schulenurg tourney

The Lady Comanches finished third out of the16-team field in the Schulenburg Tournament Thursday through Saturday, going 5-3. Shiner lost to Columbus to start the Gold bracket and then defeated Weimar to win the Gold consolation.

St. Paul volleyball: Lady Cardinals win silver bracket at SMHC tourney

The St. Paul Lady Cardinals won the Silver bracket of the San Marcos Hill Country Tournament Friday and Saturday, posting a record of three wins, two ties and one loss.Friday Pool PlaySt. Paul tied two and lost one match in the pool  play to advance to the Silver bracket on Saturday.St.

Shiner volleyball:Shiner Junior Varsity Purple wins Schulenburg Tournament

The Shiner Junior Varsity Purple team won the freshmen division of the Schulenburg Tournament on Aug. 11. The Lady Comanches played four matches and won four matches. In pool play, they defeated Weimar 25-7, 25-8; won 26-24 and 25-19 against Bellville and swept La Grange 25-14, 25-19.

Shiner volleyball:LCs go 1-1 in tri-match with Yoakum, Gonzales

YOAKUM — The Shiner Lady Comanches started the regular season with the usual tri-match in Yoakum against Gonzales and the Lady Bulldogs.Shiner swept Gonzales and lost to Yoakum 2-1 to split the two matches that were best-of-three.

Both Shiner football teams were on the road last week for the first scrimmages. St. Paul traveled to Bloomington and the Comanches were at Tidehaven.St. Paul at BloomingtonHead coach Barry Wolf said his thoughts immediately after the scrimmage were that the Cardinals had not played well.

Shiner volleyball: Shiner places second in Silver at Cuero Classic Tournament

The Shiner varsity volleyball team got runner up in the Silver Bracket of the Cuero Classic last week, going 3-6.Thursday’s matchesThe Lady Comanches won one and lost two in three matches on Thursday. They defeated Gonzales 2-0, and lost to Beeville Jones 2-0 and Industrial 2-1.
