Youth sports: Sweet Digs 15U volleyball team earns runner up in March Madness tournament in Buda

Youth sports: Lonestar 14U softball team wins second in St. Patrick Day’s Tournament in New Braunfels

The Lonestar Legends 14U softball team made the trip to New Braunfels to play in the P4S Sandlot St. Patrick’s Day Tournament.  The tournament was the Legends debut tournament and they came out strong with a second place finish.

Shiner girls basketball: Shiner girls hoops win more awards

The Lady Comanches basketball team had several players earn more postseason awards.Winning Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State are Callie Sevcik (First Team), Kailey Boedeker (Secondt Team), JaMya Wright (Second Team) and Morgan Lenehan (Honorable Mention).

St. Paul softball: Lady Cards produce hits in losing doubleheader to Saints

The St. Paul Lady Cardinals softball team got swept in a home doubleheader to San Antonio Homeschool Saints 21-7 and 8-0 March 17 at the Shiner Starplex.Each game went five innings instead of the usual seven.Lady Cardinals head coach Barry Wolf said he was pleased to see St.

St. Paul and Shiner golf teams competed in the St. Paul tournament at Gonzales’ Independence Park Golf Course.St. PaulGirlsThe St. Paul Red team won first place with 389. Riley Mozisek got second medalist and led the team with 91. Audrey Thibodeaux carded a 94 for third medalist.

Shiner softball: Lady Comanches split with Weimar, Ganado in district

With a 5-5 tie to enter the seventh inning, the visiting Lady Wildcats scored a trio of runs to break the tie.They then held off Shiner in the bottom of the inning for an 8-5 win March 18 at Green-Dickson Park.Shiner had four errors in the field which was unusual for the Lady Comanches defense.

St. Paul baseball: Cardinals rout Bishop Reicher 17-1

The Cardinals scored 12 runs in the first inning and sank Waco Bishop Reicher 17-1 in three innings March 18 at the Shiner Starplex for St. Paul’s first district win of the season.The Cardinals plated five runs in the second inning. Reicher scored its lone run at its first time at bat.
