Yoakum zips past Lady ‘Stangs

The Lady Bulldogs softball team is on to the regional-quarterfinal round of the playoffs after dispatching Nixon in two games.

Oilvia Fojt went 3-for-4 with two runs, Macie Blakeney was 2-for-2 with two runs and Kylie Velek got one hit and scored three runs in an 8-1 win in the first game Thursday in Yoakum.
The Lady Bulldogs scored two runs in the the first and third innings; Nixon scored one run in the fourth. Yoakum scored two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings.
Hannah Schultz started in the circle and went four innings, four hits, a run, wild pitch, walk and four strikeouts. Madilynne Steinman worked three innings with a walk, hit and three strikeouts.
Addison Pekar led the defense with four putouts.

Yoakum 13, Nixon 5 (Game 2)
The Lady ‘Dogs and Nixon were tied at 5-5 after six innings Saturday in Nixon. Yoakum rallied to  produce a big top-of-the-seventh by scoring eight runs. Highlighting the victory was Olivia Fojt’s two-run homer and Julia Fojt also got a home run.
