2021 MISS MOULTON: And just like that, it’s over…

That was 2021 Miss Moulton Hope Kirkland’s beginning to her farewell message to the folks in her community, just days ahead of Sunday’s 2022 Miss Moulton Pageant, where directors of the Moulton Chamber of Commerce will name their new Royal Court as the kickoff event for Jamboree Week (see related stories).

“This is going to be a long one because I really am so sad,” she said before addressing each group individually.

“To the Moulton Chamber of Commerce: Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to represent Moulton the past year. The memories I have made throughout this experience have been some of the best times of my life.

“To the parents: Thank you for everything you did for me this past year, from getting me breakfast, having to listen to my (very loud) concerts, and the generous, loud “JUDGES, SMILE!!” every time something remotely looked like it could be a parade judge sneaking by. I don’t think I could ever thank you enough for everything. I am so happy I’ve gotten to know every one of you.”

Lastly, Kirkland offered a few parting words to the retiring 2021-22 Royalty Court.

“Wow! I can’t believe we survived that heat,” Kirkland said, before turning to each one specifically.

“Alyssa, you have been amazing,” she said. “You are the most beautiful and kindest person I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Thank you for listening to me when I needed to talk and for dealing with my early morning mood swings. I love you so much, and I’m so excited to see you flourish in the future.

“My little Emma: You definitely kept me on my toes. I’ve loved every minute of watching you grow into the confident girl you are today. I’m so blessed to have gotten to know you, you’re an absolute gem.

“And my sweet Ryan,” she added. “You are my mini-best friend. You are so intelligent, and I’m going to miss our conversations. I’m so lucky I’ve gotten to know someone like you. Thank you for always calling me out on almost everything. You are such an amazing kid. Can’t wait to watch you grow up!
