Roberts places at 4-H State Dog Show

Keira Roberts, a member of Half Moon 4-H Club, recently placed first in the costume contest at the State 4-H Dog Show, held at Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Conroe, on July 8 and 9.
She also placed second in confirmation with her dog, “Bailey”, a fawn Doberman Pinscher.
Keira chose space exploration as her theme.
Her costume consisted of various hand-made parts designed to look like a moon rocket lifting off, complete with red and gray “fire and smoke” of tulle at the bottom and a nose cone headpiece.
Bailey was “Dogstronaut GRR-issom” in a silver space suit Keira sewed for her, along with a backpack complete with air hoses and a helmet, and adorned with handmade patches.
Keira is the daughter of Jeff and Betty Roberts of Shiner and a senior at Shiner High School.
The Texas State 4-H Dog Show is held annually in various locations, typically in either Temple or the north Houston area.
Competitors can show their dogs in various events such as showmanship, rally, obedience, tricks, costume, drill, and confirmation, and the exhibition class this year was scent work.
It is open to all 4-H members statewide through their local 4-H clubs.
