Yoakum graduates in collegiate sports: Caka gets hits, runs, RBIs for Lady Jags softball team
Yoakum graduate and University of Houston-Victoria 2021-22 senior Lauren Caka played in several games during the Lady Jaguars’ recent 2022 season with plenty of contributions at the plate..

In UHV’s 5-2 win in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Feb. 12, Caka was 1-for-2 and had one RBI.
In a 14-0 home win in the second game of a doubleheader against Dallas Christian on Feb. 15, Caka hit 1-for-3 and scored two runs.
On Feb. 18 in an 8-0 loss in game two at Texas Southern, she was 0-for-1 at the plate.
On Feb. 28, in a 1-0 win against Our Lady of the Lake University in the first game of a doubleheader, Caka hit 1-for-3. In game two later that day, Caka went 0-for-3 in a 5-2 UHV win.
In UHV’s first game of the Gulf Coast Classic on March 4, they beat Southeastern Baptist College 17-0 and Caka had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, four RBI, triple and double.
UHV fell in their second game of the tournament later that day against Central Methodist College, 5-3, with Caka scoring one run.
On March 5, UHV lost to Webber International 11-3 as she went 1-2 with two RBI.
Later that day, UHV beat Bethel (Tennessee) 4-1 and Caka was 1-for-4 with one run.
In a home 11-3 win over University of the Southwest in game one of a two-game series, Caka went 2-for-3 with three RBI. She went 0-for-3 in a 10-2 win in the second game.
Caka played in both games of a two-game series March 15 against Texas A&M University San Antonio. In the first game, a 7-1 win for UHV, she went 2-for-4. In the second game, Caka was 0-for-3 in a 5-2 loss for UHV.
On March 29, Caka was 0-for-2 in game one of a doubleheader at OLLU where UHV lost a close one 2-1. She played in the second game, going 2-for-2 but the Lady Jaguars fell 9-1.
On April 1, Caka was 1-for-3 and helped make a double play in the field as UHV lost to Texas A&M University Texarkana in Game 1 of a doubleheader. She went 0-for-4 as UHV got a 9-8 win.
On April 2, UHV played LSU Alexander in the first of a doubleheader as Caka went 1-for-3 in a 4-2 UHV loss.
She went 0-for-3 in the second game but the Lady Jaguars pulled out a 2-0 win.
On April 16, UHV beat Huston-Tilloston 5-0 in the first game of a two-game series with Caka going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. In the second game, UHV won 5-4 and Caka hit 1-for-3.
Caka went 1-for-1 in a 7-2 win at TAMUSA on April 27.
On May 6, UHV started play in the Red River Athletic Conference tournament with a 7-1 win over TAMUSA as Caka went 0-for-1. On May 8, UHV played TAMUSA again, winning 5-1 and Caka was 0-for-1.
UHV lost to TAMU Texarkana 4-0 on May 8 to conclude their season with Caka going 0-for-1.
Overall, Caka was 20-for-62 with seven runs, nine RBI, one triple and one double.
