Babe and Bubba Bingo set Sept. 10
A non-profit organization dedicated to lowering DeWitt County’s stray pet population invites readers to select their best cowboy gear for a Yellowstone-themed bingo fundraiser with thousands of dollars worth of prizes.
Spay and Neuter Your Pet DeWitt County (SNYPD) will host the second annual Babe and Bubba Bingo at the Anne Friar Thomas Homemaking Building in Cuero Saturday, Sept. 10, from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.
“We have door prizes, a silent auction and a catered meal, and then we play 15 bingo games. For each game, we have a guy winner and a girl winner,” said SNYPD Board Member Lisa Fowler. “Our theme this year is Yellowstone; it’s still Babe and Bubba, but we’re just going to do a Yellowstone theme.”
SNYPD President Crystal Irvin said more than $3 thousand in prizes would be doled out to bingo winners. Attendees will have the opportunity to win a full-day guided fishing trip for four on the Trinity River, jewelry, a firepit, etc. The event features live music by Devyn and Quincy Whittington, a brisket and sausage dinner from Andy’s Catering in Shiner and an open bar.
Since its founding in April 2019, the non-profit organization has provided well over 1,000 vouchers to local pet owners for drastically reduced spay and neuter services with local veterinarians. Pre-order tickets are available for $45; all proceeds benefit SNYPD. For more information on the event or organization, call (361) 491-0019 or email snypd1@gmail.com.
Because the inaugural Babe and Bubba Bingo night was hindered by a spike in COVID-19 cases in September 2021, event organizers hope this year’s event attracts a large crowd in the absence of pandemic-related complications.
“It’s kind of like a date night or (night out) for a group of friends because you’re getting a meal and free drinks all for $45,” said Irvin.
