Monument Hill Remembrance Day takes place Saturday

Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Sites with hold its annual Monument Hill Remembrance Day observances from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, the historic site at 414 State Loop 92, located near the Bluff, overlooking La Grange.

Join descendants of the Dawson and Mier Expeditions, members of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Sons of the Republic of Texas, community members, sites staff, and volunteers as they honor the soldiers entombed on Monument Hill. 

The memorial ceremony will include guest speakers, wreath laying and traditional gun salute. 

Seating may be limited. Personal lawn chairs are welcomed and encouraged. 

The ceremony will be streamed on Facebook for those unable to attend in person. 

After the ceremony, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the grounds of Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites. Access to the grounds for the memorial is free.  

Descendants are invited out for breakfast at the site beginning 9 a.m.that same Saturday, Sept. 17.
