Grand jury doles out eight indictments

Lavaca County grand jurors handed down eight felony indictments last month, almost all of which were tied to illegal drugs.

One of those eight cases was returned a sealed indictment, which typically involves cases where an arrest warrant wasn’t yet served.

An indictment does not imply guilt. It does, however, show prosecutors have sufficient evidence to warrant a trial. A person’s guilt is determined by the courts.

Indicted on Thursday, Sept. 15 were:

• Karen Aitkens Beasley, for controlled substance trafficking.

• Brittany Nicole Burgan, for controlled substance possession.

• Brionne Kortez Lockhart, for controlled substance possession.

• Jose Daniel Mora Rodriguez, for controlled substance trafficking.

• Vincente Rosales, for controlled substance trafficking.

• Blake Anthony Villareal, for firearm theft.

• Angelica Davis Weiss, for controlled substance possession.
