Tri-County Softball Umpires gear up for new season, recruits needed

Contribtued report

Tri-County softball umpires held their first meeting of the year Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Hallettsville ISD boardroom.  We had several potential new members in attendance which looks promising.  We are still in need of more members to officiate high school softball.  Tri-County softball umpires who were selected to officiate at the UIL state tournament this past year were given a plaque by the board members and congratulated for a job well done.  Our next meeting will take place around the second week in January just after the Texas Association of Sports Officials state meeting which will be held on January 7th at the Dallas  Galleria Hotel.  Please visit taso.org to learn more about becoming a certified umpire.  Left to right are Tri-County secretary Robert Klekar from Hallettsville, President E.L. Moore from Yoakum, Tommy Schuette from Shiner and Ken Leopold from Hallettsville. President Moore is also holding the plaque for Boston Gates from Yoakum who was unable to attend.
