Shiner Pilot Club members perform plays for Shiner schools
Members of The Pilot Club of Shiner kicked off March with a signing of the Proclamation by Mayor Fred Hilscher to announce the celebration of Brain Awareness Week March 13-20, 2023. We then worked on creating scripts for all of the characters in the Brain Minders Show including the newest addition of Bullying by Charlie the chicken, Bully the Bull-dog and Gerald the Giraffe.
On March 7 and March 9, we performed two shorter more appropriate plays for the Pre-K and Kinder and two additional plays for the 1st and 2nd graders at Shiner Elementary and St. Ludmila Elementary.
We also demonstrated an egg drop and showed the children how the egg is just like their brain and when its unprotected by a helmet, IT (your Brain) BREAKS!
A pilot member also shared a story that related to Penny Panda reminding them to Buckle Up! It was about a car accident that her dad was in when she was 7. He suffered brain damage. She explained that your brain does everything for you and after the terrible accident he couldn’t walk, talk, or understand her because he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.
We also concluded the programs by talking about bike safety because Spring Break begins this next week. Over 300 children were in attendance.
