St, Paul football: Legacy Prep edges Cards

 

 

The St. Paul Cardinals fought hard but came up short at Legacy Prep (Magnolia) 34-26 on Friday.
The Cardinals out gained Legacy Prep slightly on offense, 471-432, but were hampered by three turnovers.
St. Paul had 50 carries for 420 yards with an average of 8.4 yards per carry.
Zane Barta ran 13 times for 201 yards and two touchdowns, getting 15.46 yards a carry. Nate Boedeker added 169 yards on 25 carries; Sam Perez had four rushes for 28 yards and a two-point conversion, and Zeke Rodriguez had 22 yards on eight carries and scored two touchdowns.
Rodriguez was 4-of-13 throwing for 51 yards and two interceptions. Perez had two catches for 29 yards and Boedeker had a pair of receptions to total 27 yards. Gus Collins had two kickoff returns for 52 yards and Charter Chilek had two returns for 29 yards.
Perez punted four times for 67 yards and 34.0 yard average.
Gus Collins and Blaine Humes each had one interception on defense.
