Yoakum football: Yoakum starts district with undefeated Hitchcock

The Yoakum Bulldogs get an intense start to district as they host Hitchcock at 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.
Hitchcock (also the Bulldogs) went undefeated in non-district, which includes a 43-36 win over 2ADI powerhouse Refugio.
Hitchcock scores an average of 49 points a game and yields just 13 points a game on the defensive side.
“I feel they are the most talented team in the district,” Yoakum head coach Bo Robinson said. “Their lines are as big as ours.”
Junior quarterback Lloyd Jones, III leads the offense and has several receiving threats in Damien McDaniel and Bryce Dorsey.
“We have to get pressure on the quarterback and we have to tackle him hard. We have to have no big plays, and let their receivers catch in front of us and make them earn the yards.”
Hitchcock will also be athletic on the defensive side.
“We will have to get first downs and match them point wise because they will score plenty. Our offense has to be at its best,” Robinson said.
