Gloria Lynn Lofton

Gloria Lynn Lofton, 73, passed away on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023 in Abilene.

She was born on July 2, 1950 in Seminole, Texas to Donald and Martha (Savage) Nugent. Gloria married Harold Lofton on June 19, 1993 and they spent 24 wonderful years together until his passing in 2017.

 Gloria enjoyed taking care of her cows, crocheting, reading, and shopping for antiques. She was known for her clumsiness and almost always had a Diet Coke with lots of ice in her hand.  She loved being a mom and super Grammie and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 

She is survived by her son, Donald Plunkett and wife, Pat of Kermit; daughter, Cristi Romine and late husband, Tony of Wink; brother, Jay Nugent and wife, Laura of New Waverly; sister, Linda Adams and husband, Don of Kerrville; grandchildren, Kristopher Plunkett and wife, Emily, and Lexie Humphrey and husband, Rob; and great-grandchildren, Lily, Emily, Freya, and Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her husband,  Harold Lofton; parents: Donald and Martha Nugent; and son-in-law: Tony Romine.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 27 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, officiated by Ed Simmons.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to any cancer research group.
