HISD seeks bids on Phase 2 parking lot, SAFE project
Phase 2 of the Hallettsville ISD parking project will begin once bids are in.
The board of trustees authorized BEFCO Engineering to advertise for bids at its regular monthly meeting Monday night.
“Rain has slowed the progress of Phase 1,” Superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Bludau said.
The board voted to call for bids for fencing for the SAFE project.
The Texas Education Association (TEA) awarded the district a $891,803 grant for the safety and security enhancements. This includes fencing, visitor management system, panic alert systems, ID badges, security cameras and vape/aggression/gunshot sensors.
The board ordered a trustee election for May 4. One of the board members up for reelection is board president Brian Smith.
Financial report:
• The district has collected 47.34% of the 2023 taxes. Year-to-date collections are $4.29 million.
• Local revenue collected is.
• The General Operating fund balance at the end of October was $739,124.84.
• The board okayed payment of bills totaling $325,238.59.
• The General Fund account balance was $406,578.47 as of Dec. 31.
• General Operating Money Market was $9.18 million. The interest earned on the account was $37, 723.72.
• Available cash was at $9.58 million.
