Voters in the City of Moulton passed a proposition from the city that deals with street tax. There was a total of 49 votes for this proposition with 41 (83%) voting for and eight (16%) voting against.
The proposition involves the reauthorization of the local sales and tax in the Citty of Moulton. The rate of one-half of one percent will continue to provide revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
“The city has a street maintenance tax,” City Secretary LuAnn Rogers said at a city council meeting. “That’s a portion of the sales tax that we receive, and it has to be reauthorized by the voters every four years.”
