HPD makes arrest in City Park
The Hallettsville Police Department conducted an arrest in the City Park Thursday morning, Oct. 1 regarding a subject allegedly taking car keys away from a driver of a car.
According to a report from HPD, officers were dispatched to the city park around 10:14 a.m. in regards to a female stating that a male had stolen her keys.
While officers were enroute, a separate call came in that an individual was hiding under some bushes in the 900 block of N. Texana St.
Officers responded to the location and detained the male.
It was determined during the investigation that the subject was located and was the same subject who was reported to have stolen the keys from the parked car.
After officers spoke to the female in the city park, she stated that she had been assaulted by the male while walking in the park.
The subject, Darrius DeShawn Brown, was arrested and transported to the Lavaca County Jail and booked on the following charges of aggravated robbery, terroristic threat, attempted aggravated sexual assault and unlawful restraint.
According to a HPD press release regarding the Thursday morning incident, the suspect was immediately taken into custody and was no longer a threat to the public.
