St. Paul girls basketball: Lady Cards win Prairie Lea tournament

    The Lady Cardinals won three games and first place in the Prairie Lea Feliz Navidad Tournament. Sloane Kocian, Kristin Cerny and Reese Chilek were all named to the All-Tournament team.
    St. Paul 41, San Marcos Hill Country 14
    Cerny scored 19 points and Kocian deposited another 14 points as St. Paul bested San Marcos Hill Country 41-14 to open the tournament.
    The Lady Cardinals scored 16 of 19 points in the opening frame; Hill Country slightly outscored St. Paul 4-2 in the second period for an 18-7 St. Paul halftime advantage.
    The Lady Cardinals outscored Hill Country 18-1 in the third quarter and Hill Country scored six of 11 points in the final eight minutes.

    The Lady Cardinals kept Waelder off the scoreboard in a 68-0 win.
    St. Paul scored 23 points in the first quarter, sank eight in the second frame, 17 in the third box and 20 in the fourth quarter.
    Kocian had one triple and 26 points with Cerny netting 18 points.

    St. Paul 62, Seguin Lifegate Christian 34
    Kocian put in 35 points as St. Paul closed out the tournament with a 62-34 win over Seguin Lifegate Christian. Cerny also scored in double digits with 11 points.
    The teams were 11-11 after one quarter and St. Paul took a big lead during the second frame with a 24-0 run. 
    Lifegate outscored St. Paul in the third and fourth quarters, 13-12 and 10-5, respectively. Anelyna Cavazos was top scorer for Lifegate with 18 points.
