1995 State Champion Brahmas to be recognized
In the 1995 high school baseball season, the Hallettsville Brahmas accomplished a feat that had never been done before at Hallettsville High School by winning the UIL Conference 3A state baseball championship.
It was the first ever state championship won by a team at HHS, which, since that time, has been followed by two other state baseball championships, as well as a state softball title and a track and field championship.
It’s been 30 years since that season and in conjunction with the 1995 class having their 30- year class reunion will be recognized on Saturday, Feb. 15.
The recognition ceremony will take place prior to the Brahma-Alumni game to be played at 2 p.m.
According to Eric Kalmus, a player on the ‘95 team, members of the team are asked to meet at the baseball field around 12:30 p.m. on that Saturday and the recognition ceremony will be held before the start of the game.
Kalmus said the ceremony was originally scheduled to take place in 2020, the 25-year anniversary, but due to COVID it was cancelled.
He said he still has shirts that were made in 2020 for those who did not receive theirs and he will have them with him on that day. He asked that those players, who can attend, should wear their shirts on that day.
If there are any questions or comments about the ceremony to feel free to email him at erickalmus@yahoo.com or call him at 361-772-2637.
