Jr. High project brings change in student dropoff/pick-up
Starting this week, the construction project planned for the Hallettsville Junior High campus will begin as Weaver and Jacobs Constructors has fenced off the area on the west side of the campus.
The project, which is a result of the $9.3 million bond passed by district voters last May, involves the addition of classrooms, expansion and renovation of dressing facilities for P.E. and athletics, and upgrades to electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
As the project begins, it will bring a change in the student morning drop-off and after school pick-up.
Hallettsville Junior High principal, Marisa Maes informed the HISD board at their Monday, Jan. 13 of the change that will take place.
She said starting on Tuesday, Jan. 21, the cafeteria entrance normally used for pick-up and drop-off will be closed until the completion of the project.
Maes said all busses will utilize Promenade St., east of the campus to dropoff and pick-up students in the circle driveway. Other vehicles transporting students are not to use this location.
For car riders traveling west-bound on Russell St., the drop-off/pick-up will take place at the crosswalk on the street.
For car riders traveling eastbound on Russell St., vehicles will enter the circle drive parking lot in front of the school to drop-off and pick-up students.
Regarding events, such as basketball games, or next year’s volleyball games held in the gym, the entrance to the gym will be diverted through the front doors of the school.
