Kittens 400 relay team, Tinajero and Swinford advance to state
The Moulton track and field teams had several athletes compete at the Region IV-1A meet Friday and Saturday in Seguin
The Kittens placed sixth with 36 points with qualifications to state in one relay event and two field events.
Mina Tinajero was placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.33 seconds. She had a time of 18.18 in the preliminaries. She got sixth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.58 in the finals and 52.72 in the prelims.
The 400-relay team of Taylor Self, Karsyn Blahuta, Tinajero, Addison Simper, Lilliana Gomez and Kate Mikulencak took second with a time of 52.88. Their time in the prelims was 52.44.
Tinajero tied for ninth in the high jump with a distance of 4 feet, 6 inches.
Tinajero won the long jump with 16-5. Simper was No. 12 in the long jump with 15-1.
Audrey Swinford won second place in the shot put with 33-2 ½.
Swinford got sixth in the discus with 97- ½.
The 400-relay team, Swinford in shot put and Tinajero in the long jump will compete in the 1A state meet.
The Moulton boys scored nine points for No. 15.
Landon Chaloupka got sixth in the 200 with 24.95. His prelim time was 24.58.
In the 3200, Brayan Colchado was No. 13 in 12:42.93. Wesley Brown was No. 16 in 14:31.56.
Chaloupka was third in the long jump with 21-4 ½. He took fifth in the high jump with 6-2.
