Shiner baseball: Shiner beats FHS 10-2 to claim district title
The Shiner Comanches baseball team secured the district title with a 10-2 win at Flatonia on April 22 to conclude the regular season.
Shiner scored one run to start the game and took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third.
The Bulldogs managed to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning. Shiner went back ahead 4-2 in the fifth and then 6-2 in the sixth before putting the game to bed with four runs in the seventh inning.
At the plate for Shiner, Carson Schuette hit 2-for-3, three runs, one RBI and three stolen bases; Jacob Nerada hit 2-for-3, RBI, run and one stolen base; Cauy Herman was 1-for-3, two runs, a double, one RBI and one stolen base. Charlie Clifford hit 1-for-4, run, RBI and stolen base; Caleb Lehnert swung 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run; Boe Boehm was 1-for-4 with one RBI, one run and two stolen bases; Jake Simper went 1-for-5 with one RBI; Landyn Pohler scored one run; Landen Christensen added one RBI.
Clifford pitched all seven innings with two runs, 10 hits, one walk and nine strikeouts.
