Shiner, Shiner Catholic School cross country: Shiner, SCS teams compete in Shiner XC meet
The Shiner and Shiner Catholic School cross-country teams competed in the Shiner meet on Saturday.
Highlights were the Lady Cardinals and Cardinals varsity winning their divisions and Comanches varsity taking second. The St. Ludmila girls took second, the SLE boys got fourth, the Shiner JH boys winning district and the Shiner JH girls coming in second.
Shiner
Varsity Girls (1A-2A 2 miles)
Alena Winkenwerder led the Lady Comanches with No. 27 in 15:43.67.
Kayla Heinold was finished at 16:40.05 for No. 36; Jewel Caka was No 45 in 18:20.18.
Varsity Boys (1A-2A 3.1 miles)
The Comanches earned runner up with 43 points.
Joshua Lecon was seventh with 21:12.95. Logan Benavidez was No. 20 in 23:10.1; Tobias Gipson earned No. 27 in 23:40.7. Micah Eaves was No. 35 with 24:53.8.
JH Girls (2 miles, District)
Shiner got second in district with 29 points.
Aubrianah Schaefer was second in 14:51.36; Alaina Sofka was fifth in 15:18.36; Paisley Todd was seventh in 15:52.35; Kendyl Boehm was ninth in 16:00.27; Dawn Bishop was No. 11 in 16:13.12, followed by P. Pohler in 16:18.72; E. Hubbard was No. 15 in 17:16.07. A. Rosenbaum was No. 20 in 18:43.76 and A. Benes was No. 28 in 21:43.12.
JH Boys ( 2 miles, District)
The Braves won the district title with 15 points.
Aidan Muehlstein was fourth with 13:43.13, followed by L. Leal (14:13.44), H. Popp (14:15.19) and W. Johnson (14:40.93).
M. McDonald was No. 12 in 16:16.40 and behind him was R. Scott (16:51.66) and C. Gipson (20:09.58).
St. Paul
Varsity Girls (1A-2A 2 miles)
The Lady Cardinals took first in the 1A-2A division with 24 points and three runners in the top 10.
Kristin Cerny finished second overall 13:04.31. Skylar Mozisek came in fourth in 13:44.21. Frances Filip was eighth in 14:14.56; Riley Mozisek finished in No. 11 with 14:32.63.Emma Marshall was No. 17 in 14:53.29; Sally Machacek was No. 28 with 15:48.
Reese Chilek came in at No. 16:07.11 for No. 31; Faith Brown earned No. 41 in 17:23.76, followed by Clara Kinney in 17:34.86.
Varsity Boys (1A-2A 3.1 miles)
The Cardinals won the 1A-2A division with 37 points.
Gabe Darilek was third in 19:25.58. Carter Chilek was No. 14 with a time of 22:36.65, followed by Levi Morkovsky in 22:37.36. Tyler Pendley was No. 31 in 24:07.86; Jacob Arriola recorded a 24:37.94 for No. 33.
JH Girls (2 miles)
SLE came in second with 67 points.
Anna Boedeker got third place with 13:31.97; Adena Jade was No. 18 in 15:17.41; Maggie Watkins crossed the line in 15:24.45 for No 24. Jeslyn Garrett was No. 28 in 15:39.85; Kylie Schaefer was No. 34 in 16:07.23 and behind her was Ainsley McCord in 16:08.71.
