Local youth sports: Shiner LL All-Stars report- Junior softball wins two

Shiner Little League teams were in action last week and over the weekend.
Junior Softball
Shiner defeated Poth 14-3 on Friday to start off the tournament.
Avery Colman drove in four runs on three hits to lead Shiner at the plate.
Colman tripled in the fourth, scoring two runs, doubled in the first inning to score one run and singled in the second, scoring one run.
Shiner scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Andi Mikulencak singled, scoring one run; Amara Cuevas drew a walk, scoring one run, Eastyn Pohler tripled, scoring one of Shiner’s  five runs on five total hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Colman tripled to bring in two runs; Charlotte Hairell got an RBI single, Addison Ulcak  doubled in one run and Kendyl  Boehm singled to bring in one run.
Pohler earned the win for Shiner at pitcher by giving up two hits and one run over six innings, striking out 13 and walking one. Ally Trojack also got three hits; Pohler, Patricia Price and Ulcak also got multiple hits as Shiner got 16 total hits. Shiner stole 14 bases.
Shiner then blanked New Braunfels 10-0 on Sunday.
Colman struck out 16 batters while allowing one hit and issuing four walks in pitching the whole game.
Shiner put up 15 hits led by Trojack who was 3-for-4 and Reese Lyons had a pair of RBI with two hits in the game.
Shiner got on the board in the top of the fourth inning after Pohler singled, scoring one run, Colman doubled in one run, Ulcak singled, scoring two runs, and Price grounded out to score one run.
Major Baseball
Shiner opened the tournament with a 16-1 win over Luling on Friday. They won against Yoakum 7-4 on Saturday. Shiner came up short to host Hallettsville 10-2 on Monday.
Major Softball
Shiner routed Luling 12-2 on Friday. They lost 16-14 on Saturday. They fell to Cuero 10-6 on Sunday to conclude the tournament and their season.
Minor Softball
Shiner opened the tournament, playing Yoakum who won their first game against Lockhart. Yoakum got the win in a 17-7 decision. 
Minor Baseball

Shiner opened the tournament on June 10 with a 10-6 loss to Yoakum.  
Shiner struck first at the start of the game. Eli Rother got a leadoff walk and later scored on a passed ball.  Ellis Baker got a two-out walk and later scored on a steal of home to give Shiner a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first, Yoakum took advantage of two hits and four walks to plate five walks, In the second inning, Yoakum had one hit and had two walked to plate one run.
In the third inning, Ryan Guelker, Koehn Blaschke and Rother were all walked. Max Allen reached on an error while Guelker scored. Blaschke later advanced home on a passed ball. Rother later scored to get Shiner within 6-5. Lane Aman got a hit for Shiner
Yoakum had one hit, had one walked and scored one run at its turn to bat in the third. In the top of the fourth,  Hayes Handley was walked and scored when Guelker was walked with bases loaded. Yoakum scored twice in the bottom of the fourth and brought in one run in the fifth inning. For Shiner, Rother scored two runs; Aman was 1-for-2;  Baker was 1-for-2 with one run; Handley, Guelker and Blaschke each had one run. On the mound, Baker pitched 1 2/3 innings with five runs on three hits, five walks and three strikeouts; Rother worked 2 1/3 innings with two runs on three hits,  two walks and two strikeouts while Handley pitched one inning with two hits, two runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
Coach Pitch Baseball
The Shiner 8U baseball team came up short to Cuero 3-2 in the Special Tournament Championship game on June 9 in Yoakum.
