Local youth sports: Shiner junior softball wins first two sectional games

The Shiner Junior Softball team opened the section tournament on Saturday in Palacios with an 11-3 win over Needville and followed up with a 14-5 rout of the the hosts on Sunday.
Shiner was scheduled to play the winner of Rockport/Palacios yesterday for the tournament championship.
Shiner 11, Needville 3
Addison Ulcak hit 4-for-4 with one run, three RBI, triple and one stole base while Charlotte Hairell went 4-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and one stolen base as Shiner collected 20 hits in an 11-3 rally.
Needville took a 3-0 lead at its first time to bat before Shiner rallied to  score three runs in the bottom of the first before scoring two runs in each of the third through sixth innings.
Also for Shiner at the plate, Avery Colman went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, one triple and one stolen base. Ally Trojcak got two hits and scored one run; Amara Cuevas hit 2-for-4, double and one run; Eastyn Pohler got two hits, scored three runs, brought in one run, stole one base and hit a triple. Reese Lyons batted 2-for-3 with one RBI; Patricia Price was 1-for-4 with one RBI and Andi Mikulencak scored one run, had one RBI and stole one base.
Pohler got the win at pitcher with three runs on six hits, three walks and struck out 13 batters in seven innings pitched.
Shiner 14, Palacios 5
A 5-1 run by Shiner in the fourth and seventh innings helped Shiner rout Palacios 14-5 on Sunday.
It was 1-1 after one inning and Shiner led 2-1 after two innings. Palacios took a 3-2 lead in the third inning. Shiner retook the lead 7-4 in the fourth inning, took a 9-4 lead in the fifth frame before outscoring Palacios 5-1 in the seventh frame.
Trojcak got four hits, scored three runs and stole two bases while Colman hit 3-for-4, three RBI, one double and one triple, and Price going 3-for-5 with two runs, three RBI, double and one stolen base.
Pohler batted 3-for-4 with three runs, one RBI and one stolen base; Lyons got three hits, one run, one RBI and one stolen base. Ulcak hit 2-for-3 with three runs one RBI and one stolen base; Cuevas got two hits with two runs and one RBI; Hairell was 1-for-4 with one run and two RBI; Mikulencak hit 1-for-5 with one RBI and one stolen base. 
Colman pitched all seven innings with 13 strikeouts, four walks, eight hits and five runs.
