Moulton Gears Up For 65th Annual Jamboree

By Clayton Kelley

The Moulton Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its annual Moulton Jamboree beginning Saturday, July 25th for the public.

“Jamboree 2026 will hold fast to the tradition of being a fun, family friendly event that’s low cost for anyone to attend,” Moulton Chamber President Anna Bartos said. “Our music is free all weekend as are our Kid’s Zone activities, thanks to our generous sponsors, and we will have plenty of food and craft vendors for everyone to enjoy. This is our 65th Jamboree and it shows decades of pride and tradition. Jamboree is Moulton, good people coming to celebrate; celebrate the love for each other, celebrate the pride in our community (heritage and traditions) and celebrate hard work. We, the Chamber, hope that anyone visiting Jamboree has a positive experience, one that is full of good friends, good stories, good laughs, and good memories. We want everyone to feel like family and just have a great time.”

The schedule for the Jamboree is as follows:

Friday

Barbecue cookoff participants will be setting up shop at the Moulton City Park and there will be a barbecue cook’s meeting at 8 p.m. at the Community Center. Entry forms for the barbecue cookoff can be found under the forms link on the Chamber’s website, moultontexas. com. Teams can also register electronically via the Google Form link also found on the Chamber’s website. If teams register and pay by July 13, they will be entered into a drawing for a free barbecue entry ($180 value.)

Saturday

The official Jamboree will kick off with a softball tournament happening at 8 a.m. at the Moulton City Park. A parade will also bring in the beginning of the Jamboree in downtown Moulton at 10:30 a.m.

The deadline for turning in barbecue will be on this day with chili turn-in at 10 a.m., bean turn-in at 11:30 a.m., chicken at 1 p.m., ribs at 2:30 p.m., and brisket at 4 p.m. Folks can turn these entries in at the Moulton Community Center. Barbecue awards will be announced at 5:30 p.m. under the pavilion.

There will be many bands performing on Saturday. The first performance will begin at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. under the pavilion and will feature Kenneth Kristynik and the Lavaca County Line. The next artist, Reagan Hicks, will perform at 2 p.m. followed by JD Notaro at 5 p.m. Closing out the night, Broken Alibi will be performing at 8 p.m. All of these performances are also under the pavilion.

The Moulton Jamboree tradition of the tractor pull will start at 7:30 p.m. behind the pavilion. Arts and craft vendors and food vendors will be setting up shop all day. The Chamber’s famous hamburgers will also be for sal as well.

Sunday

Starting Sunday morning at 9 a.m., a car and tractor show will be held first thing. The famous pie contest will begin at 9 a.m. and last until noon at the Community Center. The pie auction will be held that afternoon at 2 p.m. at The Hall at Moulton Oaks.

“The pie contest and auction are fan favorites,” Bartos said. “One not-so-new event that we have not had in a decade or so that we will have this year is a homemade ice cream contest. With our nation’s big birthday this year, we thought that bringing back the ice cream contest would be a fun little addition to Sunday afternoon because who doesn’t like ice cream during a celebration? Also, ice cream goes great with pie, so we coordinated the contest to begin right around the time the pie auction ends so patrons can enjoy both.”

That contest will be held at 4 p.m. The location is to be determined at a later date.

Along with the Kid’s Zone happening on Sunday, a snake exhibit will be held for the children beginning at 11 a.m. at the courts.

Music will start at 11 a.m. with the Czechaholics followed by the famous polka group, The Shiner Hobo Band, at 2 p.m. Music from Dawson DeBord will close out the evening at 5 p.m. All of these groups will also be performing under the pavilion.

The Chamber wants to thank all of the volunteers who make this Jamboree possible. “We could not host our Town and Country Jamboree without our volunteers,” Bartos said. “We have volunteers helping set up two days before the weekend; working shifts in the hamburger and beer stands as well as the ticket booth, judging the barbecue entries and keeping that contest running smoothly. Also, coordinating the parade, softball tournament, car and tractor show, and pie contest and auction and cleaning up early Monday morning. We may only have 12 people who plan the event, but we rely on the countless other volunteers who fill the positions throughout the weekend to make our events successful.”

Bartos said that she would encourage former residents to come home for the Jamboree this year. “People never really forget where they grew up and the place they first called home,” Bartos said. “Jamboree, then, allows anyone from Moulton to reminisce about their time here. It allows for a weekend to reconnect with old friends while making new ones with new memories. It allows for a weekend to reset and remember the values that shaped you. It also allows for a weekend to relax and just have fun.”
