Commissioners declare week of Oct. 6 as National 4-H Week

The DeWitt County Commissioners Court made a proclamation declaring the week of Oct. 6 as National 4-H Week at the Sept. 22 meeting.

4-H shooting sports registration opens

Lavaca 4-H Shooting Sports will hold orientation and an organizational meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Appelt’s Hill Gun Club, 4071 CR 204, Hallettsville for youth, age third through 12th grades interested in participating in the Fall 2025 session.

National 4-H Week, Oct. 6-12

At the Monday, Sept. 23 Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court meeting, the court approved a proclamation designating Oct. 6 through 12 as National 4-H Week in Texas.

Lavaca County 4-H competes at district Food Show and Food Challenge competitions

Eighteen Lavaca County 4-H members participated in the District 11 4-H Food and Nutrition Project Competitions in Cuero on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14. There are 18 counties in the Coastal Bend District qualifying participants at the preceding county level events. The Food Show is an individual event.

The South Texas Cattlemen’s Roundup

The South Texas Cattlemen’s Roundup kicked off the 2023 season at the Hallettsville Livestock Commission on Tuesday, June 13. Local 4-H clubs provided the goodies and the event staff. Many wonderful pies, ranch items, and plants were auctioned to benefit Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
