Hallettsville names Homecoming King & Queen

Hallettsville High School held their Homecoming game this past Friday against San Antonio Comal Piper with the Brahmas taking the win, 25-0.  During halftime the Homecoming King and Queen were crowned.  This year’s queen is Dara Debord and the king is De’Keidris Bedford.

Meeting of the minds for local law enforcement heads

Victoria Police Chief Robert Arredondo met last week with Port Lavaca Police Chief Colin Rangnow, Edna Police Chief Rick Boone, Hallettsville Police Chief Randal Schlauch, Shiner Police Chief Kevin Kelso and Ganado Police Chief David Merritt to bolster regional partnerships between these agencies.

Only 2,000 tickets will be sold, with proceeds going to help fund scholarships to local graduates looking to the fields of aviation.

Hallettsville Fly-In takes off Oct. 1

The eighth annual Hallettsville Fly-In will soon be upon us once again, and the Texas Barnstorming Museum will once again play host as pilots from all over Texas take flight on Saturday, Oct. 1, to come and show their support of local high school graduates with a taste wild blue yonder.

Garden Club opts to depart its city park digs

After missed funding opportunities and apparent dragging of feet by the city by way of needed Garden Center structural repairs, Hallettsville Garden Club members came together Thursday, Aug. 18, to do something that most thought would never come to pass.

Words that even dictionaries gave the boot

Hearing about all the words that get added to a language has become almost commonplace in our world of social media, Wikipedia and mile upon mile of online apps and spell checkers that make things like a big, fat, well-worn dictionary almost a thing of the past. Which is sad, really.
