LHD Board approves tax rate

The Lavaca Hospital Board of Directors met in a special called meeting at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 27 and set the voter-approval tax rate at .1626 cents per $100 valuation.

Court adopts VA tax rate/ approves budget

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met Monday morning and adopted the 2025 property tax rate going with the voter approval (VA) tax rate of .5497 per $100 valuation as well as approving the 2025-26 county budget. Both votes were done by a unanimous show of hands vote.

Board approves tax rate notice

The Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees met in a regular meeting Monday evening and approved the tax rate notice for the 2025-26 budget year.The Voter Approval (VA) rate calculated for the district for this year is 0.877352 cents per $100 valuation.

Court proposes tax rate

Lavaca County tax assessor-collector, Deborah A. Sevcik, presented the 2025 appraisal roll and tax rate calculations at Monday’s, Aug. 11, Commissioners’ Court meeting.Sevcik told the court the total appraised value showed an increase of 1.09% over last year’s values.

The Yoakum Independent School District (YISD) is requesting a Voter Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) to fund employee pay increases.A VATRE is an election required to be held when the district adopts a tax rate that exceeds the amount allowed by the state.

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met Monday morning and set the 2024 property tax rate and the 2024-25 county budget.Prior to the regular meeting, the court held a public hearing on continued collection of records management/preservation fees in the county clerk’s office.

Shiner council opts for no new dollars
