4-H shooting sports registration opens

Lavaca 4-H Shooting Sports will hold orientation and an organizational meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Appelt’s Hill Gun Club, 4071 CR 204, Hallettsville for youth, age third through 12th grades interested in participating in the Fall 2025 session.
At the Monday, Sept. 23 Commissioners’ Court meeting, the court approved a proclamation designating Tuesday, Oct. 1 as Kids’ Health Party in the county. Lavaca County 4-H competes at district Food Show and Food Challenge competitions

Eighteen Lavaca County 4-H members participated in the District 11 4-H Food and Nutrition Project Competitions in Cuero on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14. There are 18 counties in the Coastal Bend District qualifying participants at the preceding county level events. The Food Show is an individual event.
Hallettsville FFA & Lavaca County 4-H members competed in the San Antonio Livestock Show Junior Commercial Steer competition recently with four members getting Top 10 honors.
