SHCHS graduation ceremonies Sunday

The 2024 Sacred Heart Catholic High School Commencement Exercises will be held Sunday, May 19, at 4 p.m. The ceremonies will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville with 30 seniors receiving their diplomas.

Moulton Election results updated

Voters in the City of Moulton passed a proposition from the city that deals with street tax. There was a total of 49 votes for this proposition with 41 (83%) voting for and eight (16%) voting against.The proposition involves the reauthorization of the local sales and tax in the Citty of Moulton.

MISD employees could see insurance increase

Teachers and staff members at Moulton ISD may be seeing an 8% increase in employee insurance.This was discussed at the May 1 school board meeting. Currently, there are 51 employes who are utilizing the school’s insurance. The district pays $273,000 for the total employees.

Sweet Home election results

Sweet Home ISD held a special election regarding their Proposition A bond. A total of 186 votes were made for this bond with 117 (63%) voting for and 69 (32%) voting against.

Tom-Tom Kiddie Parade to be held May 31

The Tom-Tom Kiddie Parade will be held on May 31. This year’s parade will be in downtown on Lott Street. Check-in will begin at 5:15 p.m., entries should be in place by 5:45 p.m., and the parade will start at 6 p.m. All children through age 12 are invited to participate.

Modified Transfer Station hours

The Municipal Transfer Station will be modifying hours of operation during the hottest portion of the summer. The new hours will begin on June 3 and continue through the remainder of the summer.The facility will be open to the public from 6 a.m. and closing at 11:30 a.m. Monday-Friday.

April temps on the high side

April saw above average temperatures and contributed decent rain to the year’s total.Thus far the city has received 18.91 inches which gives us a surplus of 9.60 inches.All total April received 1.36 inches or 2.08 inches below average. The month’s heaviest rain fell on the 10th and totaled 0.
