Jansky Sand and Gravel inducted into BBQ Cook-off Hall of Fame

The annual BBQ Cook-Off held each year during the Texas State Championship Fiddlers Frolics and since 2019 have been naming a cook-off team to its Hall of Fame.This year, the Jansky Sand and Gravel team was selected as the Texas State Championship BBQ Cook-Off Hall of Fame.

District voters approve two HISD bond propositions

Hallettsville Independent School District voters passed Propositions A and B of the proposed 2024 bond, approving $11.1 million for safety and security upgrades at every campus and expansion and renovation of the junior high.

Spoetzl Brewery makes donation to Community Connections of Lavaca County

The Spoetzl Brewery Charitable fund donated $2,500 to Community Connections of Lavaca County. The funds will help offset the fuel and maintenance costs of the vehicles to help our local senior citizens.

Council hears about wind turbine project

Shiner City Council members heard a presentation from the Moon Shot Wind project at the May 6th meeting. The project is a part of Apex Clean Energy.Their goal is to bring wind turbines in Lavaca County. They believe it will help the growing electricity demand in Texas with clean, homegrown energy.

Moulton’s fiddling phenom Daniel Jasek, or as he dubbed him Sunday, “the Energizer Bunny of fiddlers, for his propensity to keep coming back year after year and, even at the age of 92, still outplay most who ever even bothered picking up a bow.

One-Act Play Makes History

This weekend the inaugural 1939 Stage Company concluded their One-Act Play season as one of the top 12 in the state. Ten students took a chance on a UIL event that they knew nothing about because Moulton High School hadn't competed in OAP since 1994.
