The Lavaca Hospital District Board of Directors met in a regular meeting Monday evening and heard an update on the progress of the Physical Therapy/ Wellness Center project.Weaver and Jacobs Constructors, Inc.

Burn ban lifted

After hearing from Lavaca County EMS assistant chief/Lavaca County Fire Chiefs Association liaison Tim Decker at its Tuesday morning, April 14, meeting, the commissioners’ court voted to lift the burn ban in the county.

The Hallettsville City Council recognized April as Fair Housing Month at the April 20th meeting, highlighting the importance of equal access to housing and anti-discrimination protections.

Meet Ollie: Lavaca County's new Mental Health Deputy dog

A new four-legged member has joined the mental health unit. Ollie, a 7-year-old Goldendoodle was chosen for his calm and gentle nature, making him a good fit for therapeutic support.Ollie will be assisting Lavaca County’s newest Mental Health Deputy Brittney Keil.

MISD Transitions from ‘Amplify’ Following Community Feedback

The Moulton Independent School District gave an update of their Curriculum Advisory Committee.The committee was formed solely for the purpose of looking at new instructional materials for the upcoming school year. This committee consisted of teachers and members of the community.

Area Thunderstorms: Some got soaked, all want more

Thunderstorms descended upon Lavaca County on Sunday, leaving many folks joyous while others wished for more.There’s no doubt the rain was spotty, to say the least. People living in the Cotton Grove area were elated; unofficial reports indicate they received 10 to 11 inches of rain.

Yoakum ISD awards students

YHS student athletes were recognized at the Yoakum Independent School District (YISD) board meeting April 13.They were recognized for the 2025 All-State football season. “This whole room is proud of these guys,” Board member Glen Kusak said.
