Board approved purchase of property

The Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees met in a special called meeting Monday morning and approved the purchase of an approximate 0.212 of an acre tract of land from Michael and Barbara Tankersley.
County EMS Captain John Schultz was recognized and presented an accommodation for assisting the Fayette County EMS with an incident last week. Truck crosses center line, sending two to the hospital

Last Saturday, the Hallettsville Police Department assisted in a two-vehicle collision on the 700 Block of West Fairwinds St.According to officials, a 2017 White Dodge Ram pickup drifted into the opposite lane and struck a 2024 Black Dodge Ram pulling a trailer.

Shiner Chamber hosts annual Memorial Day commemoration

The Shiner Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Memorial Day commemoration at Green Dickson Park this past Monday. The event opened with a prayer by Mike Morkovsky and the National Anthem was sung by Faith Brown. Organizations of Shiner then presented the wreaths in honor of those who have fallen.

UIL Science Team wins second at state

The Shiner High School UIL Science team wins second at state! The UIL State Academic Meet was held on the University of Texas campus in Austin on Monday, May 18. The team was coming into state with the 3rd best score in Texas after regionals, but ended up winning 2nd by 76 points.

Three Shiner High School students participated in the UIL Theatrical Design Contest held recently. Senior Gracie Baker is the 2026 State Champion in Marketing Design. She is the first student from Shiner to win top honors in Theatrical Design.

Moulton Parks Get Major Upgrades

The Moulton City Council is continuing to improve the parks in Moulton.These parks include the Moulton City Park as well as the new and improved downtown park. “We had a fellow come out and do some work on the pond at the Moulton City Park,” Council member Adam Nieto said.

St. Paul HS graduation held May 17

Commencement exercises for St. Paul High School’s Class of 2026 were held at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Seventeen seniors received their diplomas during the ceremony.
Monday’s ceremony concluded with members of the American Legion playing TAPS and conducting a rifle salute as attendees stood in silence to remember the nation’s fallen heroes.

Moulton Gathers at City Cemetery to Honor the Fallen

The American Legion Post 392 hosted a Memorial Day service at the Moulton City Cemetery honoring the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.Attendees received Memorial Day poppies as they gathered under the gazebo at the cemetery.
