Grand jury doles out eight indictments

Lavaca County grand jurors handed down eight felony indictments last month, almost all of which were tied to illegal drugs. One of those eight cases was returned a sealed indictment, which typically involves cases where an arrest warrant wasn’t yet served. An indictment does not imply guilt.

YISD approves $4 million energy savings project

Yoakum ISD Trustees approved a $4 million project with Schneider Electric to renovate the Yoakum Junior High School’s HVAC system and replace indoor and outdoor lighting throughout district campuses.   During their Sept.

YISD recognizes YHS Student Council

This year’s Yoakum High School Student (YHS) Council members introduced themselves to the Yoakum ISD Trustees and received praise for their dedication to their community during Monday’s School Board meeting.

The DeWitt County Historical Commission received its 23rd award from the Texas Historical Commission (THC) in recognition of its well-balanced preservation program and community engagement initiatives from the County Commissioners’ Court Monday, Sept. 26.
