All of the reported vote totals are considered unofficial until the final canvassing of votes take place.   In addition to the primary runoff election held Tuesday, May 24, also included in the election was the voting for Republican Party precinct chairs.

DeWitt County law enforcement officers made arrests between May 13 and May 19. Those arrests contributed to an average daily prisoner population of 94 inmates at the DeWitt County Jail, 14 of whom included prisoners housed for other agencies.

A suspicious device was discovered on Moulton ISD school property and investigated by the Moulton Police Department and Austin Police Department Bomb Squad, according to a Lavaca County Office of Emergency Management (LCOEM) release on Thursday, May 26 The 1:45 p.m.

    The 2022 Gubernatorial Primary Runoff Election Day is Tuesday, May 24.   Voters who participated in the March 1 Gubernatorial Primary Elections may only participate in the runoff election for the same party; otherwise, registered voters can cast their ballots for either runoff election.

This past March, the Republican and Democrat Parties held their primaries with several party nominees on the state level as well as two Lavaca County positions requiring a runoff. Early voting has ended and voting in the primary general election is today (May 24).

The Yoakum Fire Department responded to a multi-alarm fire near the junction of US Highway 77 A and County Road 324 that engulfed much of an antique store on Saturday, May 21, at approximately 6:30 p.m.   Joe F. Chandler Sr.
