Another defendant enters guilty plea

Following district court proceedings on Wednesday, Jan. 7 another drug dealer pleaded guilty to charges and was sentenced to imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system.According to The Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office, Gregory Newton was arrested on Feb.

Pedestrian succumbs to Wednesday afternoon accident

A vehicle/pedestrian accident that took place Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 7, resulted in the pedestrian passing away from the injuries.According to a report from the Hallettsville Police Department, the accident took place around 1:05 p.m. in the 200 block of W. Fourth St. in Hallettsville.

MISD Finance Rating Fails; Public Hearing Set

The Moulton Independent School District received a failing score on its Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 2024-25 school year with an assigned rating of ‘63’. The district will hold a meeting this month to discuss Moulton ISD’s FIRST rating.

Drought continues through December

The need for rain increased as dry conditions spread locally in December. The month saw only 1.04 inches which is 1.79 inches below the normal 2.83.Thanks to December and eight other months that were below normal the city ended the year with a deficit of 12.79 inches.
